Décolleté, charm and femininity

Today I will tell you something about shoes that undoubtedly boast a timeless charm: pumps.

Let's start from their name... décolleté: this term comes from the French décolleter " to uncover the neck "

A pinch of history

We are talking about women's footwear par excellence... but history sometimes plays some "bad" tricks on us and in fact the first décolleté dates back to Ancient Egypt.

At that time the décolleté was a man's shoe.

You read that right…as a man.

In fact, it was worn by Pharaoh's knights who found the heel useful for holding the stirrups firmly on their feet.

The actual décolleté, the one for women, was born in the eighteenth century when it entered the scene to replace the most used model at the time... the ankle boot.

From that moment we witnessed the birth of the models that made the history of this shoe.

From Marie Antoinette's with bows and square toe to Coco Chanel's with low heels.

The influence of Cinema

But as I told you about the dancers (click here for my article on the role of Brigitte Bardot) also for the d. cinema has played its part as a muse.

I am referring to the d. by Christian Loboutin. Well it seems that the stylist was inspired by Shirley MacLaine in the film “Irma la dolce”.(1)

The list of famous pumps is crazy but I don't want to bore you...I close this part with another model that marks the strong link between the world of shoes and that of entertainment.

In the first episode of Sex and the city the Manolo Blahniks appear and I don't think there is anything else to add.

My proposals

As with the previous articles in which I talked to you about sneakers ( click here for the article ), sandals ( if you are also interested in this article you can click directly here ) and ballet flats ( this is the link ) I suggest some of the pumps that you can find it in my online store in the appropriate section.

Patrizia Pepe , Chiarini Bologna , Brando are the companies I chose for the pumps.

My advice is always to peek into the store without forgetting the unmissable opportunities in my outlet .

I hope I didn't bore you and I'll see you in my next article!
